When you experience weird JavaScript error messages like:

  • InitializeUI is not found error
  • While executing onLoad in somefile.js JavaScript Error appeared.
  • While executing onOpen in somefile.js JavaScript Error appeared.
  • <!-- Search: somename, server behavior is not found
Or extensions interface do not appear or appear corrupted clearing the cache of Dreamweaver almost always solves it.

Dreamweaver's cache is kept in a file in its Configuration folder. That file name depends on OS:

  • For Windows it is WinFileCache-<randomString>.dat
  • For MAC it is MacFileCache-<randomString>.dat

Deleting of that file clears the cache. After restarting Dreamweaver is creating new one. Location of the cache file differs for each version and operating system. Here is a list of locations depending on DW version and OS:

  • For Dreamweaver CC 2014:
    • Vista, 7 & 8: C:Users<username>AppDataRoamingAdobeDreamweaver CC 2014<language>Configuration

Adobe Dreamweaver is the go-to option for web developers and offers a variety of features for web development and design.

It allows them to build any site for any browser by making use of the latest techniques without creating any extra fuss. Windows 10 users often have been reporting about Adobe Dreamweaver not responding in Windows 10. To fix this issue, follow these simple steps.

The not responding, lag or freeze issue attributed to any software program is often due to the presence of junk data in vast quantities on the computer. This issue might not be that threatening in the beginning, but it can explode into a huge problem if it isn’t taken care of. So we recommend scanning your system with ST Cleaner and specifically cleaning the Software Junks detected in the scan.

Perform System Scan

This particular problem is mostly caused due to Windows files being completely corrupt or being missing from the installation media which was used to install Windows.

  1. Click the Start button search for cmd.
  2. Right-click Command Prompt from the search results and select Run as administrator.
  3. Once Command Prompt opens up, enter sfc /scannow and press Enter to execute it.
  4. Patiently wait for the process to complete and then reboot your computer.
  5. Launch Adobe Dreamweaver and check if it works fine.

Reinstall Adobe Dreamweaver

If Adobe Dreamweaver is not working it might be due to some files being corrupt or being missed during the course of the program’s installation. Another reason why this is happening is due to Adobe Dreamweaver conflicting with other Adobe application(s). In such a situation, it’s recommended that you uninstall all Adobe products and perform a clean installation of Adobe Dreamweaver.

  1. Uninstall all Adobe applications through the Control Panel.
  2. Once the removal is over, reboot the system.
  3. Open up Windows Registry by typing in regedit in the Search area of the Start menu and then selecting the relevant result.
  4. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWARE.
  5. Find and delete the subkey name Adobe and then exit the Registry Editor.
  6. Download the latest version of Adobe Dreamweaver from the official site and install it.

Deleting Corrupt Cache Files

Adobe Dreamweaver creates cache files on your PC which can cause conflicts when you update or install a new version of Adobe Dreamweaver. Similarly, these cache files are corrupt and cause the existing version of Adobe Dreamweaver to not work properly. Follow these steps to remove Adobe Dreamweaver cache files.

  1. To view cache files you’ll have to first select the option to view Hidden Files. In Windows 10, 8.1 & 8, select the View tab in the File Explorer/ Windows Explorer, and select the Hidden items checkbox.
  2. Now make your way to the following directory: C:Users%username%AppDataRoamingAdobeDreamweaver C*<language>Configuration (* represents the version of Dreamweaver CS5/CS6).
  3. Locate the cache file, WinFileCache-********.dat inside the configuration folder and delete it. (The string of characters after FileCache- vary depending on your system).
  4. If you’re experiencing a JavaScript error related to either dwscripts or translators were not loaded error, delete the FileCache.dat file as well.
